Solving a Common Gate Problem

This project started with a familiar issue. The customer had an older wood gate that had begun to sag as the posts and frame rotted over time. Rather than rebuilding another all-wood gate that would eventually run into the same problem, we replaced the structural components with steel. New steel posts and a welded steel frame provide the strength and stability needed to keep the gate square and operating smoothly.
Choosing the Right Approach

This semi-custom design solves a problem many homeowners run into with wood gates. The steel frame carries the structural load, while the wood can be replaced when it eventually wears out.
We:
Designed to be installed by any handyman or contractor so not to need a welder onsite
Replaced the original wood posts with steel posts
Fabricated a fully welded steel gate frame
Installed adjustable hinges for proper alignment and long-term adjustment
Filled the gate field with wood pickets for privacy and appearance
Designed the gate so individual boards can be easily removed and replaced
Built to Be Practical

The result is a gate that combines the strength of steel with the appearance of wood.
If the wood ever needs replacing, the boards can simply be removed and new boards installed without rebuilding the entire gate. Once the steel frame is painted or powder coated, the structure itself can last for decades.
This design can also be adapted for many different uses—from small side yard gates to larger driveway or RV access gates—and can be built as either an inside or outside swing depending on the space.
The Result
A strong, square gate that keeps the look of a traditional wood gate while solving the structural problems that usually come with them.
It’s a simple solution that combines durability, security, and good design.
