Built to Fit

16 FOOT STEEL DRIVEWAY GATE

Finding a gate that fits an existing fence or opening isn't always as simple as buying one off the shelf. Posts may not be spaced exactly the right distance, the opening may be wider than a standard gate, or you may want the gate to match the fence that is already there.

That is where a custom-built gate makes sense.

We build gates to fit the opening and the way you plan to use them. Depending on the project, that might mean a simple steel gate, a custom metal gate, or a steel frame designed to accept wood fence boards.

WHERE TO BEGIN

For many gate projects, the first measurement we need is simply the distance between the posts. From there, we can figure in the hinge size and the spacing needed around the gate so the finished gate fits the opening properly. Custom heights and widths are available, including wider gates where a standard gate just won't work. We can build around existing wood or steel posts, or work with new posts as part of the project.

Steel Frames for Wood Gates

One of the gate designs we build is a welded steel frame with pre-drilled holes for wood fence boards. This gives you the look of a wood gate while the steel frame provides the structure underneath. The wood boards can be installed horizontally or vertically depending on the look you want.

What We Like About the Steel Frame

  • The wood can be replaced. When the fence boards eventually rot or get damaged, you can replace the boards without replacing the entire gate.

  • The frame stays rigid. 1-1/2" x 1/8" steel strap helps support the weight of the wood and keeps the gate from sagging.

  • The tubing is fully welded. 1-1/2" x .095" square tubing is welded closed to help keep moisture out.

  • It can be built wide. Steel construction allows us to build gates wider than standard sizes when the opening requires it.

  • You choose the look. Wood boards can run horizontally or vertically.

  • You can handle the finish. We can provide the gate in raw steel if you want to paint it yourself, or you can choose primer and powder coating.

Not Every Gate Needs to Look the Same

A gate should work with the fence and property around it. Sometimes that means keeping things simple. Other times, the gate needs to handle a large driveway, RV access, or an unusual opening. That's why we build them to the project rather than trying to make every gate the same.

If you have an opening that needs a gate, send us the measurements and a few details about what you're trying to do. We can help figure out the best way to build it.
