A Custom Steel Garden Gate Inspired by Nature
From a magazine photo to a one-of-a-kind steel garden gate

Sometimes a client comes in with a picture and a general idea of what they want. This project started with a magazine cutout and a request for something organic, natural, and a little different.
The client gave us the artistic freedom to make changes as needed to fit the space.
What We Did
Built the garden gate using a combination of flat bar and steel plate
Hand-formed the leaves from 18-gauge sheet metal
Heated and hammered the steel vines in the forge
Wrapped the vines around the gate post to give it a more natural look
Added hinges and a door handle
Applied a rusted steel patina to give the gate an aged, weathered appearance
This gate was built ten years ago and it is still standing strong. Whereever our client moves, she plans to take this gate with her.
