Ready for the Hunt

Our client brought in his Can-Am side-by-side looking to add usable storage without giving up the functionality of the bed. He wanted space to carry a spare tire and a cooler, while keeping the rear cargo area open for whatever else he might need on the trail.
The custom rack needed to be lightweight to keep the center of gravity low and strong enough for off-road use.
Lightweight Strength for Off-Road Use

To meet those requirements, we built a custom aluminum rack designed specifically for this machine.
We:
Built the rack from 1.5-inch 6061 aluminum to keep weight down
TIG welded joints with 5356 filler metal for strength and impact resistance
Secured the rack using grade 8 hardware for off-road durability
Designed the mounting to avoid interference with the cab, bed, and rear storage
Engineered the rack to be removable if needed
One of the main challenges was finding the right location for the side brackets. The final design distributes the load evenly while keeping everything solid and stable.
Built to Fit and Built to Be Used
The rack sits cleanly over the cab, adding capacity without overwhelming the vehicle. It provides secure mounting for a spare tire and cooler while leaving the bed open for other gear.
Custom aluminum racks like this are becoming a bigger part of our work, and projects like this highlight why—we enjoy the collaboration, problem-solving, and building solutions tailored to how our customers actually use their equipment.
